About

The Second Christian Reformed Church of Pella was founded in August 1897 with 22 families and 109Original building souls after splitting from the Fourth Reformed Church. Our first pastor was Richard Vande Kieft who had come to Pella from the Netherlands in 1895. Our first meeting place was a- crowded City Hall (then on Main Street) until a building was obtained through John Van Den Berg in 1897 at our current site. Music at worship consisted solely of songs sung by the congregation from their own Psalm books. All the services were in the Dutch language until the time of World War I. Our church has been in the same building since that as our congregation has continued to change.

In 1997 we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our church. Download a PDF of the origins of our church written by Rev. William Zeilstra. To view any other of the centential information, contact the webmaster, use the links below to learn more about our church.
